When Sookie met Darcy...

Floppycats asked me to share how we originally introduced Sookie to Mr Darcy and if there were any teething problems, so that others could learn from our experience.

OH BOY WERE THERE PROBLEMS! Hiss! Swipe! Growl!

It's hard to imagine a time when Mr Darcy and Sookie didn't get on (or that Sookie was but the size of my hand when she first met 'bear paws' Darcy!) But here's a link to the story and how a beautiful friendship began...

Sounds like a good plot for a Hollywood movie. Hmmmm...lemme call Mr Tarantino. Seriously, when Mama brought me home to meet Tom, it was love at first sight. We have never quarrelled, produced three kittens, and still kiss and groom each other despite the *snip*. purrr *giggles*

What a beautiful story. I rescued Cosmo and Ling from the drain (they were dumped in a bag and estimated to be around 6 weeks old) and when the decision was made to adopt them, it was more of introducing them to us. It took almost 2 week of patient sitting the room with them (while they huddled in a corner) before they would even approach us. And that was a little over 3 years ago!

So while we didn't have trouble getting them to get along with each other, it took quite a lot of time to get them to trust us. :) We were hissed and spat at too. LOL.

Cat-from-Sydney, ooh you were so lucky to find your soulmate and have him love you straight back! I felt so bad for Sookie to begin with.. she would go up to Darcy and lay down beside him, at which point he'd scramble off the sofa and straight out the cat flap. She'd be left sat there gazing after him adoringly. Luckilly now they have mutual affection for each other! =^..^=

Whisppy - I didn't know that about Cosmo and Ling, the poor babies. I'm so glad you found them! With Sookie we were so worried at first, every time we went in the room to check on her we'd find her hidden in the tightest corners... behind the sofa, in between books in the farthest corner of the office desk and in amongst the TV wires. She would not move whilst I was in the room, but I would just lie on the floor reading my book. After two days of this, I went to check on her and suddenly she just bounded up to me and meowed as if to say "hello world I'm ready for you now!" =^..^=

Well they sure look happy now. Our cats did a little hissing at eachother when we brought them home but nothing too bad. It probably only took a day or so
