We took Mr Darcy to the vets on Friday after he took another turn for the worse. The vet checked him over and concluded that he had a temperature of 102 and should be observed. He was given an injection, is on antibiotics for a week and I was instructed that he should fast for a day, then have chicken or white fish for the next two days to see if things sort themselves out.
I'm happy to report that he's been doing a lot better and here in the UK we have a Bank Holiday Monday so I get an extra day with him at home.
BUT...
The vet informs me that I have a FAT PUDDY. Poor Mr Darcy - he was most insulted. We had been under the assumption that he wasn't fat, just floofy, but it appears that we were wrong so things need to change!
With immediate effect Mr Darcy is on a strict, measured diet with NO TREATS and NO GRAZING allowed. Darcy is not happy and had told me this loudly and repeatedly for the last two nights. One unexpected pro though is that he has decided that if he can't eat, he's going to get a cuddle instead. Therefore the last two nights I've woken up to find Darcy sandwiched between us in the bed. Aww.
He's due back to the vets again next week for a follow up, so please keep your fingers and paws crossed for him (on both counts).
